Beef tallow is rendered beef fat, traditionally produced by melting down suet—the hard, white fatty tissue found around the kidneys and loins of cattle. Once the fat is separated from the connective tissue and impurities, it solidifies into a shelf-stable, nutrient-dense substance that has been used for centuries in skincare and cooking.

The molecular structure of beef tallow is similar to that of the oils naturally produced by your skin. This allows it to penetrate more effectively the skin barrier, rather than just sitting on the surface.
Secondly, grass-fed beef tallow is a natural source of fat-soluble vitamins, including:
Vitamin A: Supports cell turnover and skin rejuvenation.
Vitamin D: Plays a role in skin repair.
Vitamin E: An antioxidant that helps protect the skin from oxidative stress and damage.
Vitamin K: Aids in skin healing and inflammation reduction.

Tallow, when rendered and washed properly, will have very little to no odor. However, if you’re new to tallow products, you might still detect a subtle “grassy” smell. But, after infusing with herbs for 11 hours, the predominate aroma of the balm is that of the glorious plants (rose, calendula, lavender, and comfrey).

Conventional antiperspirants use aluminum-based salts (like aluminum chlorohydrate) to physically block sweat ducts. While scientific evidence isn’t conclusive on if there is a link between aluminum exposure and breast cancer, many of us choose to avoid aluminum products as a precautionary measure.
What’s more, most deodorants on the grocery store shelves are full of yucky potentially “endocrine disruptive” preservatives and chemicals such as parabens and phthalates (used to make artificial scents last longer). -
Natural deodorants, such as our herbal formula, do not contain aluminum, and therefore cannot block sweat ducts. So in terms of having “dry” underarms, don’t expect the same results as from a conventional product.
However, natural deodorants work by addressing the cause of odor: the bacteria that break down sweat. In our herbal product, we use kaolin clay, which is naturally alkaline. Odor-causing bacteria thrive in acidic environments. So, by shifting the pH of the underarm toward a more alkaline state, it can make the environment less hospitable for those bacteria, and therefore, reduce odor. -
When you switch to a natural deodorant from a traditional antiperspirant, your body goes through a temporary 2-to-4-week adjustment period.
This happens because conventional antiperspirants use aluminum salts to physically plug your sweat ducts, altering your skin's natural microbiome. When you stop using them, your pores unblock and your underarm bacteria rebalance.
Also, the underarm bacteria community changes and rebalances without chemical blockers, which can temporarily create a stronger or different scent. Fear not, sweating is a part of the natural cooling process; your body needs time to regulate its normal fluid release after being artificially restricted.
Tips for a Smooth Transition
Be Patient: Give your body two to four weeks to fully adjust and rebalance.
Exfoliate Gently: Lightly scrub the skin to remove dead cells and buildup.
Reapply as Needed: You can reapply natural deodorant during the day if you feel extra moisture or odor while your body resets.
